German Christmas Market Mushrooms (Markt-Champignons)

Step right into the festive, twinkling atmosphere of a German Christmas Market with this beloved street-food snack: Fried Mushrooms with Garlic Sauce (or Champignons mit Knoblauchsoße).

This savory dish is the definition of cold-weather comfort. Whole, earthy button mushrooms are pan-fried until tender and golden, then seasoned with a fragrant blend of classic herbs including oregano, rosemary, thyme, and a warming pinch of paprika. The star, however, is the luscious Garlic Sauce. We create this creamy topping by combining our Tavolini Mushroom Sauce with decadent crème fraiche, fresh garlic, and a squeeze of lemon juice. It’s savory, aromatic, and captures the true Gemütlichkeit (cozy comfort) of a German holiday.
